So I have this Basil plant that I really like. It's part of my windowsill garden and as long as I water it every day, it stays nice and green. One day I noticed it was getting really tall and drooping. I was really afraid that it might break or start dying, because it wasn't time to plant it outside yet.

I did a little research and found out that it is really super easy to propagate basil from clippings with 3-4 inches of stem. I've regrown everything from celery to onions, but I didn't believe I could grow new basil plants until I saw the results myself after just one week:
You can even use "leftovers" to make new basil plants (try the same thing with green onions)! Here's a quick tutorial from garden therapy:
How to Grow Your Own Basil from Leftovers: 1. Snip the top of a basil stem with 4 sets of leaves growing then remove the 2 bottom sets of leaves from the stem. 2. Place the stem into a mason jar or shot glass of water and set in a sunny location. 3. When roots are visible transfer into a pot of soil and keep well watered while the cutting is establishing.

That is so awesome! I had no idea you can grow basil so easily and quickly start up new plants so easily! I really want an herb garden, but we don't have any windows that have the ability to be converted in this current house. I'm really sad. I can't wait until our next house; the ability to grow herb gardens is definitely one of the make it/break it features i"m looking for in a new house.
I am SO doing this!! There is nothing better than a panini with fresh basil, yumms! Now all I have to do is get some basil leaves...Thanks for the tip!
