I was pretty excited when I found out that I would be reviewing Borax for Purex Insiders. It is probably my favorite Household Cleaner because of its many uses!
- softens water
- enhances stain removal
- deodorizer (ie: for mattresses etc)
- toilet bowl cleaner (1c in your toilet overnight, swish the next day and flush. Keep the lid down because Borax can be toxic to pets)
- fine china (add 1/2 c to dish water)
- it even kills fleas and ants (A small amount of Borax mixed with powdered sugar)
Once you see all the things it can tackle, I think you’ll want to give a try in your home too!
About Borax: (from their website)
Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate: a naturally occurring substance produced by the repeated evaporation of seasonal lakes.
20 Mule Team® Borax is 100% natural, and 99.5% pure (there is about a half of 1% of naturally occurring trace minerals). Once removed from the ground it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumers.
Borates, borax and boron compounds are with us throughout our lives. Families use it to soak and wash diapers and other laundry, but it’s also an ingredient in cosmetics, medicines, ceramics and building materials.
The biggest industrial user of borates is the glass industry (especially fiberglass and gorilla glass). It’s an important ingredient in agricultural chemicals and fire retardants.
20 Mule Team Borax comes from California where one of the world’s largest deposits was discovered in 1913. Absolutely nothing is added. No phosphates, per-oxside, chlorine, or other additive chemicals.

Blood stains are the hardest they wont come out at all.
Crystal Light stains my light colored counter top!
I have to agree Blood stains are tough to get out-and some grease stains are too
I use Borax all the time in the laundry soap I make, and in the dishwasher detergent I make.
I think the toughest stain I ever had to worry about was grass stains on my son's jeans. Thanks for the great giveaway!
My husband worked with paint and it was very hard to get paint out of good clothes.

My husband works grinding knifes at a veneer mill... The grease he gets on his clothes will not come off... I have tried everything... Homemade and store bought stain removers, I have even tried degreasers... Still working on it though... :-)
